Flight of the Valkyries

I saw you praying on your own before the fight
And that’s when I knew I needed you by my side
You nodded to me and you said, “Guess that’s all right.”
From then on, I never let you leave my sight

Swords and arrows flying don’t phase you a bit
Though you know how close you are to getting hit
Fighting back to back, we make a perfect fit
We can push them back until they must submit

You and I, we’ll fight together
We can die, or live forever
We can fly without a tether
Through a storm that we can weather

Swedes outnumber us, but still, you heed the call
Fight for honor, for your homeland, for us all
You lost your helmet in the chaos of the brawl
They see who you are, and know that you’re no doll

Seconds, now, until they land the fatal blow
I’ll be with you, no matter where you go
I’ll raise you up and cast you back into the throes
You’re a hero; all of Fólkvangr* will know

You and I, we’ll fight together
We can die, or live forever
We can fly without a tether
Through a storm that we can weather

Listen for the banner’s call
But the raven’s standing still
With Freyja’s might, we give our all
Turn the tide by power of will

You and I, we’ll fight together
We can die, or live forever
We can fly without a tether
Through a storm that we can weather

*Pronounced “Folk-an-veer,” refers to the afterlife specifically for soldiers chosen by Freyja.
